Did an ebay purchase gone bad turn out to be a good thing for me? In this video I discuss what happened when I ordered the wrong item based on the seller's description. Find out how and if the ordeal was resolved to satisfaction.
Nonetheless, I took the opportunity to try out the camera in question and in this video I explain my first impressions and show some images I shot both indoors and outside. I also explain how to tell the difference between the two versions of the Ricoh GR and Ricoh GR Digital cameras, and why there is a price difference so you don't get bamboozled into the wrong camera! But the question is, if you did get bamboozled, would it be worth keeping? Check out the video and find out my impressions and opinion.

One thing that makes the Ricoh GR Series cameras so special is the continued updating of firmware. Whether it's the Ricoh GR II, III, or IIIx, Ricoh Imaging continues to offer new features, keeping the cameras up to date and on pace with competitors. The latest version as of October 2021 is 1.5, but this process will work with future updates as well.
In this video, I give a simple, yet brief description on how to download, install and update the latest firmware from Ricoh for the Ricoh GR III. The same description applies for the new Ricoh GR IIIx updates as well. Along with some interesting JPEG/RAW editing updates, as well as a 4:3 and 16:9 in-camera crop feature, the 1.5 firmware allows for Eye-detection (an upgrade from the previous Face-detection only feature). While the previous version usually nailed focus on most portraits I've shot with the GR III, the eye-detection is even better. I will have future videos featuring these new upgrades soon. How to Shoot One-Second Handheld Photos with the Ricoh GR III Compact Street Photography Camera2/12/2021
What is that shaking noise in your new camera? Is it broken? Well, maybe, but if it's the Ricoh GR III then odds are it's not broken at all ... it's suppose to sound like that! It's called IBIS, and stands for In-body, Image Stabilization.
In this video, I give a brief description of how IBIS works in the Ricoh GR III, along with a POV shoot of an old barn in a snowy field to test the one-second photo capabilities of this system. Can a photo with clarity and no blur be taken handheld at one-second? I attempt it in this video, to see if possible. While it's not something that would likely be needed, it's interesting to see if it can be done, or at least how well it can be done. Added to the one-second handheld test, it was 19' degrees fahrenheit and I was wearing sweatpants, a sweat jacket, and tennis shoes. It was not a well thought out trial to say the least. But we made the attempt. The video will give the results!
How do I use Snap Focus for Street Photography with the Ricoh GR III? It's not difficult, especially if you don't put too much thought into. The biggest problem new owners and users face with snap focus and the Ricoh GR cameras is trying to overthink how Snap Focus works.
In this video, we try to focus not on the how it works, but how to use it. Snap Focus with the Ricoh GR III is one of the best features for a street photographer. While it is similar, and based upon the Zone Focusing premise, Ricoh takes the guess work out of the process, and helps the photographer concentrate on the shot and framing, not the technical aspects of zone focusing. There are three ways to use Snap Focus with the Ricoh GR III. I go through all three options, starting with my least favorite, to my method of choice for my street photography. Ricoh GR III Quick Tip #2: How good is the Ricoh GR III battery life for Street Photography?1/18/2021
In this video, I discuss the battery life of the Ricoh GR III for street photography, as compared to other compact cameras, as well as adding the Newmowa Li-90B Battery Pack and charger to your camera bag. This includes two batteries, and a charger, and along with the single battery included with the Ricoh GR III, you'll have three batteries, and the charger. A great deal, and something you'll need if you're doing a lot of shooting.
