There are times I like lugging around my DSLR and gear, but there are other times it makes more sense to have something light, yet powerful like the Ricoh GR III. I left my house in the early evening on a day in May with sketchy weather brewing to the south. Within 15 minutes of my house, I passed an old house that first appeared abandoned, but as I got closer realized there was a For Sale sign in the yard. But upon even further inspection I found the house to indeed be empty of a resident, and an abundance of trash including a lot of old rusty artifacts. The most dominant of artifacts was an old, burned out school bus with easy access for some great photo opportunities. I was surprised at how lucky I was to stumbled upon this location, and decided it was perfect spot to pull out the GoPro 7 Black and film a video featuring my Ricoh GR III for snapshots.
I find the Ricoh GR III to be a great tool for landscape photography. It's APS-C sensor allows for nice enlargements, and it has exceptional dynamic range for such a small camera. While I did purchase it for street photography, the Ricoh GR III has also become a companion when I'm headed out to rural spots as well. You can't beat an excellent quality camera, that spits out tack sharp images! The Ricoh GR III is actually very good for this sort of quick shoot and go situation. It's very stealthy, and easy to walk around pointing and shooting at everything you see. It's the 'shotgun shooting' technique of just pointing nad shooting at about anything and hoping for some nice hits. I indeed did get some nice hits, and some very sharp keepers. Compact cameras, like the small (but expensive) Ricoh GR III are great for this sort of adventure, when you don't want to lug around your more expensive, and heavier DSLR, but still want sharp quality, and excellent low-light performance. The Ricoh GR III passed this test and performed excellent throughout the shooting conditions.
