How to Photograph A Rural Covered Bridge

Anyone can take a snapshot of a covered bridge on their phone, but to get the proper angles, lighting and general aesthetics of a landmark like a covered bridge, barn or any structure that has a wide, well lit entrance, and not get a blown out window or entrance is not an easy feat, but certainly doable if you know how.

I use my Canon EOS RP Full Frame camera to shoot a beautiful covered bridge in rural Indiana. Along the way, I try to show you how to get a nice collection of photographs from an outing like this with such a historic subject.

I also for the first time use my Canon EOS RP for video of my intro and outro in this video, at 24fps (something all the old videos tell you can't be done at 1920x1080, but it is here with the newest firmware update), along with my new Rode VideoMic Pro+ microphone. I purchased all this gear, nothing was given to me (unfortunately) by manufacturer, so whatever opinions you hear are mine and mine only.

I will add, that I had an issue with the Rode (my fault) for turning the input levels down too low on the camera manual settings, so I had to jack up the audio in the video, so it isn't the best quality, but didn't know at the time of recording. It will be fixed with proper levels by the next video. But given that I was over 7 feet away from the camera/mic mount, I think it still sounded great!
